I should have guessed that you are a LIBERAL! Just because I speak THE TRUTH, doesn't mean I am "liberal" and just because you "don't like" something shouldn't automatically mean that some card-carrying communist-sympathizer draft-dodging pinko-liberal was behind it either! Why is it that for 40 Years of a Democrat controlled Congress, there were never any IRS hearings to investigate abuses against innocent taxpayers? Because they used the IRS to intimidate American taxpayers into just shutup and pay their taxes and and try not to take too many of those legal deductions or we may have to AUDIT YOU! Because the Democrats LOVE to tax people, that's why. BUT the hearings have done NOTHING except assure some republicans a healthy war-chest of contributions for this November's elections. The hearings are a JOKE. Read yesterday's WSJ page 1 tax report. Independent polls say that MOST people think that the IRS attacks more tax CHEATS than there are abused honest taxpayers... I'm not defending, particularly, just stating THE TRUTH. The Taxpayer Bill of rights NEVER got off the ground while the Dems were in the majority. But now we have THREE of them passed!!Not to forget those willing CPA accomplices that say "i wouldn't take that deduction if i were you, as it may send up a RED FLAG..sound familiar? YES, by golly, it does. You said the exact same thing in an earlier post: Also, a major red flag is a CPA that constantly states "I wouldn't take that deduction, as it might send up a red flag". Sound familiar :O) Almost like you have a canned set of papers you are posting from. Are you associated with one of the tax groups? Now we have Democrat Bill Clinton using the IRS and FBI to audit and investigate anyone that goes against his liberal policies.. .remember those poor people that worked in the White House Travel office that wanted to keep their jobs...but, since relatives in Arkansas figured the White House would be a great place to work and they loaded up their belongings and moved in with that jerk(sung to the tune of the Beverly Hill- Billies ;-), they were fired and audited by the IRS, not to mention many, many other Americans that Clinton wanted to keep quiet, imo. How about all those FBI files on over 200 Republicans..kind of makes Watergate seem like childsplay by comparison, as that was only eavesdropping! Whether you like it or not their will be more IRS hearings to make it stop threatening and in some cases fabricating evidence against honest taxpayers. Well it looks like we agree on some things! (g)Speaking of being honest..Why don't you admit that you don't have the type of friendly and positive personality to make it as a financial planner when the Flat Tax becomes a welcome reality? ADMIT? That's a funny way of putting it. I have no interest in doing "financial planning" per se for individuals. What I SAID earlier was that CPAs HAVE been doing financial planning LONG BEFORE the CFP designation was even thought of, and CPAs will CONTINUE to offer the most unbiased advice available. CPAs didn't need to trademark "fee only" as it was only the DREGS like American Express IDS that offer Financial Advice for alleged "kickbacks" that caused the need for it. AMEX IDS (g) it seems "EVERYONE" they advise just happens to fit like a glove into the IDS mutual fund program. ...Ever wonder WHY?a 10 line Flat Tax of only 17%, a baseline of no taxes on the first $33,000 of income for a family of four, and do schedules needed as there will be no Capital Gains (double)tax, and they would no longer need to have to look at you or listen to your attitude. As I've patiently said several times. CPAs do NOT service this situation to any great extent. Who DOES? The H&R Block offices, the Jackson Hewitt offices and Independent EAs. THESE three group make 90% ++ of their revenues from the situation you describe. CPAs? Maybe 1% to 5% of revenues at the most, I'd guess.a 10 line Flat Tax of only 17%, a baseline of no taxes on the first $33,000 of income for a family of four BTW, why do you repeat this LIE!! Any Flat Tax RATE would need to be 33% +/- IN ADDITION to State Taxes, FICA, Medicare, Excise, and so on. If you'd like to be SPECIFIC, telling us how the revenues raised under YOUR theory would meet the current BUDGET I'd like to discuss. But NO ONE supporting Flat Tax will EVER discuss FACTS and SPECIFICS, maybe you'll be the first! (g) By the way, My CPA is in the Bahamas this week, he left early this morning, after having finished up the last few returns that he had to do for friends..not that he needs the money of course, with his stock and real estate investments...he doesn't worry about when the Flat Tax is a reality! How come you are not on vacation...it is April 16th, not the infamous APRIL 15th? Because as I am getting TIRED of reminding you, CPAs do not live and die around April 15th, as does H&R Block. BUT hey we like to take "spring break" vacations just like everyone else! No crime in that, is there? If you actually had financial affairs that required a CPA, you'd understand this. It is clear you are stretching the facts here as to "your CPA". BTW Why don't you use H&R Block? You seem to just have need of a "compliance" tax preparer, as you've stated in a previous message. H&R Block can do an admirable job for a reasonable fee, without paying for all the expertise and experience that comes along with an EA, CPA or Tax Attorney.the largest lobby against the Flat Tax are tax preparers and real estate agents- WHO ELSE is going to speak the TRUTH? The PROPONENTS **ALL** have an PERSONAL AGENDA for THEIR BENEFIT. They ALL want your MONEY. They seek "DONATIONS" Some are for political war chests, some are for so-called "organizations" (with SALARIES paid to the organizers). WAKE up and look at your 'argument" against CPAs. You are sounding just like THE LIBERALS. Is your real name Carville? If you can't argue the FACTS, attack the messenger. Makes me feel like Ken Starr. Colin
