Headline: SST Named Silicon Valley's Fastest Growing Semiconductor Manufacturer

======================================================================
SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Storage Technology, Inc.
(SST) (NASDAQ:SSTI), a leading manufacturer of low-cost, high-quality flash
memory components for the computer, communications and consumer markets, today
announced that it has been recognized by The San Jose Business Journal as the
fastest growing semiconductor manufacturer in Silicon Valley. Overall, SST
was ranked nineteenth on the Journal's list of the Silicon Valley Fast Public
100.
"Over the past few years, SST has maintained its strong position as the
leading provider of SuperFlash(TM) based memory products to the computer
marketplace while continuing to establish diversified growth opportunities for
its flash memory products," said Jeffrey L. Garon, chief financial officer for
SST. "With record unit growth in both 1996 and 1997, we have continued to
demonstrate our ability to provide appropriately priced, high-functionality,
high-quality flash memory products to meet the growing performance
requirements of the computer, consumer and communications markets."
Going forward, SST is committed to investing in research and development
in order to expand and diversify its flash memory product line, based on the
company's patented, proprietary SuperFlash technology. SST's SuperFlash
technology uses a reliable, thick-oxide process with fewer manufacturing
steps, which offers a low-cost, non-volatile memory solution resulting in
excellent data retention and higher reliability.
The San Jose Business Journal enlisted William O'Neil and Company, an
investment advisory firm, to create this list. The firm provided the
financial information and calculated the growth rate of publicly-held Silicon
Valley companies over the past three years using a system called "least
squares analysis." The San Jose Business Journal then used public records to
verify the revenue information and compile the list of Top 100 Fastest Growing
Public Companies.
