Industry analysts predict there will be a more than threefold increase in the number of subscribers for DTH television service via satellite by the year 2002 in the United States alone. As more and more of these services move to digital platforms, providers will have the ability to deliver interactive data broadcast services in addition to traditional television service. This market opportunity, which is being addressed by several of Loral's companies, embraces a huge number of consumers who, while they may not have traditional telephone service or computers, do have televisions in their households.
