VISX just appreciated into my number one holding. Given the latest earnings report and all the Laser Center ads I hear on the radio, I think we are going to have a lot of fun.

My main concerns with LASIK have always been the risks associated with the (early) microkeratomes, and the fact that most people are squeamish about incisional eye surgery, thus presenting a marketing problem which may more than offset the supposed marketing advantage of instant results. Most people don't realize, for example, that the LASIK flap only completely heals around the periphery of the incision.

That's why LASIK patients have to wear those goofy-looking eyeguards for a day or more (especially while sleeping) so they don't rub the flap off.

I'm glad the new microkeratomes coming on the market are much safer, but I still believe the LT direction is toward no-touch PRK, because it is faster, easier to market, and closer to the ideal of "pure" laser vision correction.

Don't assume my absence means I'm ignoring anyone or don't wish to respond. I do have a life, you know.

Yosid, I'm very happy for you and your LCAV. Too bad it's overpriced right now.
