SKorea's KCTU calls for strike by state employees

SEOUL (AFX-ASIA) - The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) called
for a strike by state employees to protest a government proposal for the
restructuring of state corporations.
"The government must scrap its reckless and unilateral restructuring in
public sectors," the KCTU said in a statement.
The warning followed an order earlier this week by a presidential budget
commitee that 155 state-run and state-invested companies and organizations
should present restructuring blueprints for their sale or privatization by
May 4.
KCTU leaders argue the government should obtain prior approval from
unions in laying off state employees.
