There is no doubt in my mind MSFT will someday be
the most valuable company in the world. $400 per
share is 1 trillion market cap approximately. You
can just see all the areas msft is getting their
paws into. The 60 in 1996 is now 15, when you
acccount for the two splits.

So far MSFT has moved on a log chart at a rate of a decade every 3.3 years. If the trend continues, we
will cross the decade of $100 this year and MSFT will be over $1000 by year 202 (and the market cap
will be ~2.5 trillion). Hope you are a short term trader.

The short position is very much a short term trade. As everyone says you'd be crazy to open a short position in MSFT and then just forget about it!

However, I find it difficult to believe that MSFT could have a market cap of 2.5 trillion in 2002 or any time soon - that's about a quarter of US GDP and is equal to about 1/12 of the value of the total US real capital stock or 1/3 of the current value of the share market. Those are just crazy numbers even if the current valuation isn't so crazy.
