Chip, you didn't mention SLI in your description of the Canopus. This would account for the half price since it would require two Canopus to equal the Obsidian2SLI

This doesn't make sense. The $329 card they are advertising on their website (www.pure3d.com) is a *12* MB card similar to the other high-end Voodoo2 cards on the market. Obviously, like their competition you could connect two cards together for 24MB total, but I don't seen anything at all about a 24MB card.
