I am sure one spanking will not ruin a child, Del. I do wonder whether old-fashioned ways of disciplining children brutally caused broken, distant relationships, or whether only parents who distance themselves from their children and do not show much love are capable of these actions? Or do parents usually do exactly what their own parents did, unless they really take time to think about it, and want to change very badly?

I'm dying of curiosity--what did he do that was so bad you spanked him? Only share if it's not too personal, though.
