Michael,
When a piece of equipment or important component i.e., stepper, etcher, laser, mfc gets excepted in a large semiconductor company e.g. Intel, Motorola...
It pretty much takes an act of god to try something new to do or replace what the excepted component did.

"copy exact"

In the copy exact mode you don't change anything <>without a proposed plan and upper managements approval. After the proposed plan has been completed a full report of the improvements i.e., money savings, process improvement ect...goes out to all departments.
Then everyone has a vote on the proposed change.
It is a grueling internal chore to make a change.
Jeff...

Michael, I agree. Eventually, some other company may capture some market share. Noone has presented a good argument based on currently known facts as to how this will happen any time soon. Since there is no compelling argument there, why are we even discussing this? We have no idea if or how this will effect Cymer operating results in several years.

It's pretty silly to waste time on this based on the "potential" customer release from LP. Anyway, we should probably keep a closer eye on Komatsu and Nikon, since if Cymer does lose share, it will most likely occur with those two companies. At least, based on what little we know about Nikon. For Nikon's sake, they shouldn't piss Cymer off too much. They don't want to find themselves "on allocation" for the 5010 and Orion. :-)
