I have been dreaming about lately is Novell acquiring BORL

Back in those days when Novell had all the cash and the high stock valuation, they did the right thing by acquiring somebody, but they picked the wrong companies. They ended up having to dump WordPerfect, etc. but did have a talk with Borland back in '95 I believed. According to the report, they couldn't agreed on the price. PK wanted a lot for Borl, which he was correct in understanding the importance of development tools. It would have been good for both companies, but sometimes we have to learn the hard way.

Novell also shot themselves in the foot by renaming their product IntraNetware 4.1, thereby, clobbering their well known trade mark. What a disaster? Now, they are coming around with Netware 5.0.

Now Novell is also talking about the important of ISV and development tools. It's the tools, stupid.
