Alydaar Names New Director Of International Sales
CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Alydaar Software Corporation (Nasdaq: ALYD - news), a leading Year 2000 remediation and systems migration firm, has named Jack Shiavo director of international sales. A sales professional with more than 28 years of sales and management experience, Shiavo has extensive experience with the Year 2000 computer problem, or ''millennium virus.''

The problem results from older software systems that may fail to properly recognize the two-date field ''00'' as 2000. Computer programs written in the 1970s and 1980s typically read only the last two digits in a year. Such programs must be fixed to identify the year field with four digits. Using its automated SmartCode technology, Alydaar can automatically correct Y2K problems on all languages and platforms.

Previously, Shiavo was European director of Year 2000 technology sales for Platinum Technology, Inc. (July 1, 1996-present), where he generated more than $10 million in revenue in the first 18 months. He also was regional sales manager for ADPAC, serving a 17-state area in the Western United States from August 1993 to July 1, 1996, when ADPAC entered into an exclusive worldwide marketing agreement with Platinum.

''Alydaar is well positioned, and the technology we bring to the market is proven,'' Shiavo said. ''The company has been able to build a high-profile customer base, and the plans to take the company forward beyond the Year 2000 make sense.'' Shiavo will be based in Esher, Surrey, England, where he will direct all sales efforts for Alydaar outside of North and South America.

''Alydaar, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, has offices throughout North America and Europe. Alydaar's international sales staff is expected to grow through hiring and potential acquisitions'', Shiavo said. Andrew Carr, Alydaar's director of business development, is also expanding the distributor network internationally.
