SLB's sales of more than $10B would be dwarfed by combined $16.2B sales of HALLIBURTON/DRESSER duo. N.Y. hedge fund manager insists that SLB has twice approached BHI last year with offer. So far, says BHI has kekpt SLB away. Figures in buyout BHI worth $55. One analyst explains that SLB needs to boost sales, acquiring BHI would be quick way to do that. SLB, BHI didn't return calls. SLB was set into the back seat on the HAL/DI merger and may well wish to resume its leadership role it has enjoyed.>> Dave for so long.
