Good morning to you too, Regimond! I see you have been successfully conjured up from your hibernation.

My response to Sal was in the context of internet stocks.

All the pure internet plays are speculative-AOL YHOO NSCP.

Sal made the point of ascribing internet tier 1 to those internet plays which, after the ' speculative bubble' burst would suffer the least, in stock price correction. In the context of Sal's placing Yahoo in the 1st tier at well over $100 and Netscape in the $ 20 range,in tier 3, which stock has the most to lose for investors, at this juncture? If its yahoo, doesn't Sal have it backwords?

In all seriousness, reggie, your valuation techniques , from what I've seen here, would advise an investor to avoid any of the internet hi fliers, yahoo included, which in my opinion , is sound advise to anyone who can not tolerate losses.I don't think any of these stocks could stand up to your standards.

BTW- You seem to be unaware of the dangers open source:http://www.news.com/News/Item/0,4,21145,00.html?st.ne.ni.rel, linux, freeware momentum, DOJ escalation , bad PR see the cover of 4-20 Business Week(no longer free on the www-( have on the love of your life.

<As it happens, this is not an IBM or GE or Sony, nor a DEC or Sun or MSFT. So measured against all companies anywhere it is not so big, >

"I may not be able to back Sal being an expert, but I will back his NSCP statement. He says NSCP was a third tier performer. For many investors, NSCP has destoyed enormous amounts of capital. It is highly volatile without the requisite reward to justify it. It has probably the most precarious competitive postition in the industry."

Well, I sit here on Friday night, having watched the search stocks start to crumble at last. What would you say is more risky tonight - NSCP or YHOO?

Having said that, I'd like to mention the money I made buying puts on NSCP. So I don't totally disagree. But Sal, as I understand it, said something like '3rd tier internet stock'. If not, and he simply said, '3rd tier stock', or something close to that, then he is right, as are you.

"and what exactly did NSCP invent?"

Good question. A more careful reading of my letter will reveal that I said they did not invent... Perhaps you would like to disagree with something I actually took a position on?

"Oh yeah, I am an expert, so feel free to challenge me."

You are, as many have noted, a legend in your own mind when it comes to high finance.

I will say you have lately learned that less is more when writing, and that you are taking a notably more reasoned tack towards the other SI participants now. I salute you.

Cheers,
Chaz
