greg,
Enough shares are authorized to split two for one now. With the annual meeting coming up the board may request additional shares be authorized and that would be the signal that something is in the works. I believe it requires a shareholder vote to increase shares out. A split doesn't provide any additional value but the lower share price resulting should make the stock more attractive to a wider range of investor. Kind of like slicing a ten inch pizza into eight or ten slices, still ten inches but smaller pieces.

Thanks Greg,

Split or not Pfizer is an excellent company to be investing in. Besides that It seems to be making a lot of people VERY happy.

Splits just make it a little easier to buy 'whole lots' for smaller investors like myself. I guess I'll just have to buy some and wait for the dividend check to get some info on a drip if they offer one.

Thanks again!! and Good investing

Take Care

Ann

FWIW: PFE split history from 10K

>>FYI, I checked and I believe a 3:1 split has not occured on PFE for at least 30y. Can anyone verify?

a quick search of the most recent 10K for the string 'authorized' quickly brought up some nice notes containing the split history of PFE.

1970: 3 for 1
1983: 2 for 1
1991: 2 for 1
1995: 2 for 1
1997: 2 for 1

Regards,

Creighton
