Bexar, The shorting shouldn't have any effect whatsoever. You have priority over the borrower and your broker should sell and it is up to the borrower to return the shares toot sweet. Besides, they have 3 days before they have to deliver shares, so that should never cause a second of slowdown.

Assuming you are not talking about a huge number of shares and that the stock is not on the pink sheets (my Impala orders sometimes take a while as they have to wake up the market maker), a market order should take about 30 seconds to execute. I would call my broker and ask the question. The trade may be done and just not reported due to some glitch. MB
