I don't believe WIN 98 will be a non event. All new PC's will be shipped with it once it is readily available. Certainly by the timeframe which we're discussing... was August '98.

As far as MU ramping up to 64mb, I understood them to say 50% wafer strarts for 64mb by your Aug timeframe so you should take that into consideration. Also 64mb today for SDRAM -10 is about $11-12. By Aug probably $9-10 the way prices have changed in the past. Of course -8 memory is currently carrying a 50% premium and they may reduce at a slower rate since it is more costly to manufacture...and...fewer manufacturers.

Remember Socket 7 as well as Slot 1 and 2 will have PC100 capability and some manufacturers will not be in this game, and the boxmakers will be pushing these systems b/c of higher margins. So you need to factor that into your numbers...which I believe is not trivial.
