Re: I wonder how they keep it cool. That is the problem frequently mentioned with SEG's Cheetah (10,000 rpm)--you can fry an egg on it, it is said.

Could this be a difference between fluid bearings and ball bearings?

How do they keep it cool?
Apparently, Hitachi after seeing Seagate's heat problems with their latest Cheatah, made a subtle improvement. It comes with a GE ice-maker, just like you have in your refridgerator. For Desktop models it is mounted inside the box behind the front panel where there is plenty of space to spare. I did read though that Hitachi is experiencing some application problems with Laptops however.
