>>>I think a reason to upgrade that's more compelling than all the gee-whiz DVD stuff is the fact that it fixes a lot of the original Win95 glitches," Enderle said. "By installing it, you will crash much less often, and it will run much faster."

This -- as even Microsoft officials admit -- is hardly the basis for a slam-dunk marketing campaign.

" 'Buy Windows 98 -- it sucks less!' is certainly not the ad slogan I'd want," Enderle said.<<<

This is exactly the win98 I asked for in my post of a few months ago. I wonder how they compare to the feature/bug fix list I presented then? Bet they have 2/3 of it. Inevitable stuff, most of it.

Cheers,
Chaz

The Justice Department's action on Microsoft has everyone missing the point infoworld.com

Not that the point hasn't been made before here, at least once or twice, by naive high school civics guy. In an unusual fit of brevity, I'll cut to the conclusion and leave the Microsoft Millennium / Bill Gates IS John Galt crowd to rebut as they please.

Microsoft's existence depends on enforcement of intellectual property laws. Just like you and me, it has to obey the others, too -- it doesn't get to pick and choose.

Cheers, Dan.
