Sowbug; here's the deal; it's just a poker game. You gotta look at what you did right, which was forming an opinion that was correct and then adding to your position to get your cost average down. In this case, that was the right move. You can play the next hand, you learned something and you didn't get bit. 3 out of 4 is fine, considering we were on a really short fuse, which as a general rule is not the best hand.

Did I mention I did a call ratio backspread yesterday afternoon on TDFX? I figgered that they would do OK on their earnings, so I got a few Apr 30 calls and a few less April 25 puts. I've been fooling around with a strategy where I watch for volatile stocks that announce the same week that options expire. I form an opinion on the stock, and if I like the stock (long), I do a call ratio backspread, which is a fancy name for buying more call options than put options, same expiration, different strike price. It's a really speculative activity. I held the options overnight and was out this morning at 9:40 a.m. TDFX was what ya call a grand slam homer!! narf!!

and here is a page that is pretty accurate for earnings dates. I always call the company and verify the date before I ante.

I held the Apr 35 calls through today. Instead of selling them I exercised them because at the bid price I wasn't even going to get credit for its intrinsic value. What a rip off. The chart looks good with a strong uptrend and narrow/pinched bollinger bands. Good bias for an upward break to $45.
