Schlumberger declines comment on Baker Hughes

NEW YORK, April 17 (Reuters) - Schlumberger Ltd. (SLB - news) on Friday declined to comment on market talk that
it would make a bid for oil services company Baker Hughes Inc. (BHI - news). ''We do not comment on market

company in the sector.

Business Week added to the talk today with a report that the two were close to a deal.

This lopped 1-1/16 off Schlumberger shares were off 1-1/16 to 77-1/2, while Baker Hughes added 1-1/2 to 42-1/16.

No one from Baker Hughes was immediately available for comment.
