Thomas, on my second post, I was just throwing a concept out for discussion. I often do this, and while I am a little concerned about someone being in prison for something that is no longer illegal because of the passage of time, I really hadn't thought the whole thing through.

Of course, your position is a little analogous to the Clintonistas arguing that it is irrelevant whether he committed perjury in the Paula Jones depositions because testimony about Monica Lewinsky was ruled inadmissible there.

I added supervised taking of Mary Le Tourneau's medication, and ankle braceleting so that her whereabouts could be monitored, to probation and counseling. My belief is that all of this would have made a difference, although I cannot prove it, of course.

This is a fascinating case. I really wonder whether they will stay in love, or the young man will grow up and go off in a different direction entirely. I definitely think he deserves time and space away from Mary, to try to develop properly.
