AMR is more than a fuel price play. If that were all it was, you could as well buy almost any transport stock. Fuel is a big factor, of course, but so is AMR's relative immunity to Asia and their IT which helps them optimize their ticket prices to fill the plane, even if it sometimes results in prices that change almost hourly. Industry structure is also a lot friendlier as carriers are not cutting each others throats so often but are getting cozy and cooperative. Value crowd loves airlines and AMR is one of the cheapest still.

Keep the trigger close by and you might make a few bucks on your puts. I definitely would not want to hold the position more than a few days maximum. Even safer to take your money off the table going into the weekend. AMR still has a good run ahead, especially while so many techs continue to run scared.
