Jeff, Well here we have no formal IT structure.. all IT does it run cables between the departments. I am in charge of the computers in my lab/my area of our department so it's up to me.. and there is no way in hell, in a scientific environment I would allow that to happen. Re: Home access PCS. You can expect $29.95 unlimited access plan for at least a 512Kbps connection (from what I am hearing.. now don't quote me on it).. PCS is much cheaper to deploy and operate than analog so the cost savings get passed along. As for where/who you should be watching, I really (unfortunately) can't comment, given that someone I know is working one of said projects.. Re: DNS.. is you need a fast DNS to use for lookups, contact me via e-mail (use this address stevep@pc-unsavory.sos.mcmaster.ca) and I'll give you the address of a machine here that should function as a fast DNS for you.
