there's a lot to comment on here. first off, the p/e ratio is a simplistic tool, albeit a useful one, when evaluating companies. There are many other factors just as important as p/e.

second, we are in 1998, and looking at 1999 already. It isn't much help to look back at the 96-97 growth rates. In fact, that is the criticism of sunw's last quarter, revenue growth has slowed to 12%. Look ahead my friend, look ahead.

Michael, you are looking in the rear mirror!! Compare SUNW to HWP. SUNW is a technology company and pioneer in technology as is HWP or IBM.

The market prefers Screw Driver companies like DELL and CPQ,
KO PEP etc. as they are marketing companies not technology companies.

Conclusion do not fight the tape!!

As of AM today no position in SUNW
