X,
What are you talking about?
Tom's 9:30 AM comments killed Intel's upward momentum and the 3:30 PM report triggered almost panic selling.
Also, I thought that CNBC's reporting on Intel earnings Tuesday night was rather negative, especially in view of what was said on the conference call later on. Ten minutes after earnings were released, CNBC was interviewing some (in my opinion) weak analyst, who obviously had not heard the conference call yet, and probably had not even read the earning's press release. As I recall, he was fairly negative on Intel's earnings and to compound matters worse, CNBC kept running the same film clip of the interview for a couple of hours after the the CC ended.
The interview with analyst Eugine Glazer wasn't helpful either, although, the interview much later with Dan Niles of Robinson Stephens was.
Jules

X, Re: >"In spite of favorable earnings interpretation by CNBC Tuesday evening (many thought the First Call $.72 included the 9 cent charge), Intel's price Wednesday morning never exceeded 79 1/4, and it was trading below 77 shortly after 10:30. At that time IMO the upward earnings momentum was over!<"

There is no way to find out what the reason for all the selling was about when it first started. But it would be a good guess IMO to assume (now after the fact) that a lot of ML and other big traders started dumping knowing what TK's statements was going to be, or at least was told by him what he thought before he made it public.

So to suggest TK broke the upward momentum is probably NOT an overstatement.
