Don't do options. I don't think it's a level playing field.

Watching AAPL and CYCH the last two days is really jading me.

AAPL should be way way up. Instead it is being contained only slightly above April27.5s, and well below April30s. This may be simply resistance, as Alomex stated, but it looks fishy to me.

As for CYCH, it popped up $6 yesterday on rumors of a takeover. Then Prudential came out with a downgrade before the market open, from buy to hold. That plus a denial of rumors by Cybercash pushed the stock down $5 at open this morning. But get this: someone on Level II tells me that Prudential has been buying CYCH today.

Is this kind of thing even legal?

It seems like the only safe thing to do is as Phil said: research your stock picks very carefully, then buy and hold. Anything else and you're at the mercy of the MMs (Market Makers, i.e. big financial institutions).
