I've done some research this weekend and have found the following... Regards, Ben: On April 17th in the Federal Register, the DOE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy published a 15 page notice of expanded rules concerning Alternative fuel vehicle Acquisition requirments for Private and Local Government Fleets. They are expanding EPACT. This was the last item before Pure Energy gets posted on the Federal Register for Recommendation to Certify its fuel as "Alternative". Should be a few weeks away. Just in time for the Big Clean Cities Conference held in May by the DOE. You can find this latest filing in gpo.ucop.edu and pick the Federal Register and do a search on Alternative Fuel. It emphasizes that the amount of imported oil is increasing ... and they want to go to 30% alternative fuels by 2010. A year ago the D.O.E. stated they were "... not going to promulgate regulations to implement alternative fueled vehicle requirements for certain private and local government fleets ..." Now they've changed their minds and want to include them ... "DOE today begins a rulemaking under section 507(g) of the Act to determine, no later than January 1, 2000, whether alternative fueled vehicle acquisition equirements for private and local government automobile fleets under the later schedule of section 507(g) are considered ''necessary'' to achieve the Act's ''replacement fuel'' goals." So this suggests they want to extend the coverage of this act to commercial fleets (i.e. UPS, FedEx, etc.) and local government fleets (police cars, buses, etc.). Now if you were going to an alternative fuel, wouldn't you want something which is the most like gasoline as to performance and ease of use??? ... That is what the Pure Energy fuel is designed to do as I understand it. Regards, Ben
