Novell Plans To Announce Two Multimillion-Dollar Telecom Deals Dow Jones Online News, Friday, April 17, 1998 at 16:29 By Mark Boslet, Staff Reporter PALO ALTO -(Dow Jones)- Novell Inc. is set to unveil two multimillion-dollar deals with foreign telecommunications companies that feature the use of its directory-services software to provide Internet services. The Provo, Utah, software maker said Wednesday it will announce Monday a software licensing and consulting arrangement with Maritime Telegraph and Telephone Co. Maritime Telegraph and Telephone has begun offering customers a software-on-demand service through which users can rent software by the hour, week or year. Customers download the software over digital subscriber-line connections. Novell also will announce on Monday a deal with Singapore Telecom International. Singapore Telecom will offer a variety of network services, such as remote access for branch offices, hosted groupware, e-mail and World Wide Web sites, and network management. The two deals involve the use of Novell software such as its NDS directory, NetWare, BorderManager and ManageWise.
