To the thread:

I believe that I've read all the posts on this thread very faithfully, and I have a question that I don't believe anyone has given an answer to. I think the question has been asked before, or uncertain statements have been made regarding my question.

Is intel paying Rambus a royalty on its parts that use the Rambus interface? All the comments here talk about the DRDRAM side only when talking about royalties and judging market size.

If anyone knows the answer, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks,

Tom Friend

Cardin-

Thanks for your response! The part at the end actually starts to answer a question I posed to the thread a while ago but never got any real response to. Purely speaking as an investor, the Via/Micron support of SLDRAM is troubling.

As for the IA-64(TM) processor portion of your post, it is also good information, but I don't agree with what you say about IA-64(TM) being key to RMBS success (at least in 1999). Just taking a historical perspective, Intel processors do not have huge volumes when they are announced. The Pentium(R) processor came out in 1993 (January-ish) Took over a year and a half for the Pentium(R) processor craze to catch on. Just something to chew on.
