Fabulous! I can't wait to try this. This might help a lot of us.

I've already allocated 46MB RAM to Communicator 4.0.4.1. I don't think it needs
more RAM. It's quitting on me without notice and usually without error message. It
seems not to like System 8.1 and Java for Web Street Brokerage causes all of the
Nav windows to act like a 128 Mac Plus.

Upgrade to 4.05, and consider using Navigator instead. Its RAM requirement is much smaller and it seems to be fairly stable for a browser. The only thing missing from Navigator that I need is a send mail feature, otherwise I use other apps for email and Usenet news reading (Eudora and MT-NewsWatcher, respectively). Incidentally, you can get send mail with Navigator if you have it use Internet Config for the prefs, it'll open your email program and paste the recipient in the To: field for you.

BTW, I didn't notice much of a difference myself using that Java tip for Netscape.
