Bob, I don't believe there is a devil, so I am not worried about him at all. I do think it is really mean, hateful, or whatever you want to call it, to single out groups of people like homosexuals, Jews, or whoever else and discriminate against them because the Bible tells you so. But I am not really sure what to say to you in terms of citing things from the Bible, because I have lost track of where we were in the discussion. I cited a whole list of Christian ministers evaluating various Bible verses and explaining that sodomy, and the events at Sodom and Gomorrah, are wrongly believed to mean that homosexuality is a sin. Frankly, I have not found anyone over here who is brave enough to actually read them, however. You have kind of a closed system, where urls are thought to be satanic, and anyone differing from your version of the Bible is satanic, and anyone posting here who is not a conservative Christian is Satan himself (herself?), so it is really difficult to have an open discussion of much at all. Did you read those urls? Do you guys understand that only a minority of Christians take the Bible literally, and believe every word of it? Does anyone here know that Jesus doesn't mention homosexuality, and that it was homosexual prostitution, idolatry, and some other sins that the Bible is talking about regarding Sodom and Gomorrah? There is no prohibition anywhere of committed love relationships, no matter who the two people are. What about Naomi and Ruth? My second point was that if you did take all of that literally, wouldn't it be fair and logical to take EVERYTHING in the Bible the same way? It was at that point I cited this url, of things prohibited in the Bible which are done all the time now. Life has not stood still for the last two thousand years, and the prohibitions of a tribal culture trying to make sense of a world they did not understand very well are really pretty nonsensical to live by now:ncf.carleton.ca
