Pre cartoon;
I've been burning a few cells not that I can spare many,but on this debt thing.Awhile ago some were upset on takeover thoughts(even on yahoo) nobody was for it. they were saying a takeover and they would sell that day! it would be too low, bad for the stock ect... well I did agree, I'm in till 100 at least and I don't want a take over or merger or anything(I WANT MY MAYPO) so I have really been bugged by the stock price, yes I'll admit to that (I'm in the $$) so why be bugged you may ask? I've said it before I'm not a technical person when it comes to investing(I am listening) I view the company, management, environment and product, if I like I buy some, if I really like, I buy alot(not like Arnie or Mark) well I bought a dingy full! I love the concept, the product and management!!proven stuff here!really great stuff! right? right! Well lets get to my point; a while back there was a very famous Ct. company that didn't want to be taken over and to prevent this they adopted a POISON PILL PLAN it worked they were not, even though company's tried too! The point here is this, Nextel's debt is working in the same manner and if anyone here thinks that Craig and all our high priced (stock options) exe. want a take over it is my opinion they are WRONG! Nextlink, Nextband, Nextel and Telidisic are and will be the buyers or buyor. When Craig sold to T one of the first things he said was he was out of a job, now a guy with everything(speaking from experience,Mark told me vbg>)doesn't want or need more cash? what does he need you ask yourself? He needs CONTROL the ultimate ego! EGOTISM:is the sense of self-importance according to webster and not a bad thing.All great people have it! So here we are with a company loaded with debt and new adds galour, is it bad! nope, its smart, very smart!(not you Fred) Look at the take over talk, everyone would love to add NEXTEL but they can't.Why? DEBT! TOO MUCH to JUSTIFY! Were free!!Someone would have snapped N up already! Too much stock and too much debt a poison pill plan already built in, incredible, extremley Fredrick(smart) like!!I do believe when you have extremley intelligent people running things it is by design not accident that things happen. I have great confidence in our management team, we all should. Would you or anyone else leave a HIGH paying job to sign on for a lot less but with stock options? The biggest motivator of people are inscentives! It makes the average guy get out of bed on a cold morning! simple as that folks!that is my hypothesis and I'm sticking with it! I have to go lay down now, my medication is wearing off!<VBG> jimmyo going to take a pill!!

Al:

I have just spent some time working my charts, and the best description I can come up with, nextel appears to be in no mans land. This is a term used in tennis for a place you do not want to be, mid court. Either move to the net or get back to the baseline.
What makes it more difficult to define the movements of nextel in the near future is its addition to the S&P500. Anytime a the status of a stock changes, it is difficult to rely on the patterns of the past(back testing) to prognosticate the future.
I use well defined channel lines to plot nextels moves up and down. As we speak, nextel is sitting on the bottom of a channel line that began on January 9th and has remained in tact for a three month period resulting in a 12 point increase in price. The upper end of the channel is approximately 36. The difficult question, how much momentum has nextel lost, ultimately momentum is the ingredient that will keep nextel in its upward channel. If the current retracement to 31.5 reverses and the stock starts up, we remain in the channel and 36 remains a possibility. If nextel has lost its momentum, it will fall out of the channel and retrace back to 30 which is the 50ma. Should this occur I would expect a sideways movement to develop, hopefully, between 30 and 34, and continue until the next leg up begins. The problem, if a market correction develops, I can see nextel retreating to 28 during the correction with a rapid move back to the sideway envelope of 30 to 34.
Clearly, we have lost momentum for the moment, and until the catalyst for a resumption of that momentum appears, the above is likely to happen. The reference to the current no mans land, I do not believe nextel will remain in the 30 to 34 channel for very long, it will either drop back to 28 or it will make the move to 36. My best quess the motivation for the next move up will come from the international front which will be incorporated into analysts reports. Once recognition for a flow of funds from the international markets becomes apparent, price targets will be raised for nextel, and the stock will move up. The big question, when.
