Y2k,

Thanks for your thoughts. I recall that you were one of the
accused.

Maybe it didn't drive you away, but it surely drove away some
others, or at least caused hesitation in posting here.

Yes, it hurts to lose money. But it's quite far-fetched to
think that any few of us here on SI (long or short) can have
any impact on a stock's price for more than maybe a few minutes.

And if we could have that impact, it's our right to buy or sell
as we choose. My hat goes off to anyone who can make a bundle
in trading. It takes both smarts and nerves. The people who
shorted VVUS at 30-42, and are still holding and deferring their
cap gains: well, they're doing better than any trade I ever made!

I'm not a "professional" in this particular field, but I do
scientific research for a living, and am familiar with the
medical/pharmaceutical terminology used for ED diagnosis/
treatment, and can review the clinical data, etc.

And, as Jack loves to point out, drugs are one of my hobbies.

Finally, I meant no harm. It just made me mad to see someone
here told to stick something up his anus.

As far as VVUS goes, I feel lucky to have gotten out at 12.

I'm watching it for short-term trading, and it seems a lot
safer to go long than short at current prices. What makes
me hesitate jumping in more than anything else is that support-
resistance theory says that when a stock falls through a
support level, the previous support level becomes resistance
to further advances. Solid support was at 10. The theory
says that when the price gets up to 10, selling will start and
drive down the price. The longer the support held, the more
difficult it is (per the theory) to overcome that resistance.

I think most would agree that there was solid support at 10
for 3-4 months. So VVUS might be stuck in a new trading range.

Frankly, I think there are better places for my trading funds
right now than VVUS, and feel very good about jumping in on CD.

I trade for fun more than anything. Almost all of my portfolio
is in stock and junk-bond funds. Stock picking in the tech
sector is a very risky hobby if you're playing with a good part
of your net worth.
