The LifeBook 200 Series, designed for the consumer, SOHO and higher education markets, consists of two new models: the LifeBook 270Dx and the LifeBook 280Dx. The LifeBook 200 Series offers fast performance and advanced features, including modular Iomega Zip drives, at entry-level price points, bringing greater value to customers seeking an affordable, yet powerful mobile computing solution. The LifeBook 270Dx and 280Dx are available immediately, for estimated street prices of $1,999 and $2,499, respectively.
The LifeBook 270Dx and 280Dx are powered by the Intel 200MHz and 233MHz Pentium processors with MMX technology and contain 2.1GB and 3.2GB hard drives, respectively. Both are equipped with bay-compatible modular Zip Drives from Iomega Corp. The modular Zip drives set a new standard for removable storage in the LifeBook family, allowing users to easily remove and carry data. By using Zip disks, users have access to unlimited data, as each disk holds up to 100MB of data. The LifeBook 200 Series notebooks also ship with a robust software application bundle including a broad range of business, service and support, multimedia, communications and Internet software.
Each LifeBook 200 Series notebook boasts high performance addressing (HPA) 12.1" DSTN screens that deliver higher contrast and less "ghosting" than typical dual-scan screens and ACPI (advanced configuration and power interface) advanced power management support. Additionally, both notebooks come with 32MB SDRAM, 20x max CD-ROM drives, 56k* fax/data/voice internal modems that are upgradeable to the new V.90 standard and are equipped with Fujitsu's popular ErgoTrac pointing device for superior cursor control and comfort.
