Pat - Re: "any thought on when Merced will really go into production?" MERCED WILL NOT BE DELAYED BECAUSE OF that line of Bull SH*T in that article! Merced HAS A WAITING MARKET for the Highest Performance processors - SERVERS, SUPER SERVERS, AND SUPER DUPER SERVERS and SUper Workstations. That CMP author sounded lime a complete fool - implying Intel has a glut of $1000 PCs so the Merced will have to wait its turn to become the next product to clog up the shelves at Best Buy and Fast Eddie's Discount PC house. Those are hardly the destination/targets for Merced. The latest word I have heard is that first silicon is still scheduled for late this year - which has slipped somewhat since mid-1998 was at one time a target for first silicon. Paul
