Re -- Most organizations are catching up to the switching wave..

When used as a layer 2 switch, how does the Accelar compare to the catalyst line of cisco switches in features supported. And can it sell by itself against others.

Also its unclear where the cost is in the baystack 350 line, compared to some of the hubs.

What is a shared media hub - Bay style?

The flagship shared media hub is the 5000. This device - if indeed it is counted as a shared media hub- is many things. Some of the following components that make up the 5K universe -----

58K 10/100 switch
Centillion 10/100 with ATM
Remote access 5399
5380 Router (an ASN)
10/100 blade (24 port, same as 350T)
Telematics X.25 blade for CO OS's
Terminal Server card
SNA channel attached component

My point is this. If the 5K chassis is counted in the percentage of shared media sold the %age possibly could be deceiving. Lot's of 5K's sold without shared media cards installed.
