Joe,

Intel's Merced May Be Delayed

I wasn't surprised towards the news and have been expected such an official and unofficial delay announcment from Intel.

The last news said that Intel planned to run x86 applications via hardware, instead of software stimulation. This change would have to send Merced back to design tables again and would drive HP engineers crazy for such a huge change. By end of this year, you might hear some unhappy reports from HP team.

hehehe ... We are going to have 128-bit MXi, Cayenne on SLOT 2 and a 1,500 million transistors M3 all line up in 1999! Did I miss the sub-$100 PC-On-A-Chip also for 1999?

Fuchi ... who loves Cyrix's innovations
