David-- I am looking into downgrade a bit surprisingly however the sector as a whole looks positve it is just a matter of time we take off.
Forward looking statements by nearly every one and promises of richer harvests ahead will soon be ralised by the markets. I may be wrong totally but fool that I am like at 990 on SPM I know one thing smart money leaves early but comes late or rather notices late the sectors they should be in look at Intc downgrade by Kurkack we saw it testing 73 and change but saw nice action yesterday. TXN lot of uncertainities are now out forward looking read is good even CPQ is a good buy here. But LSCC \ALTR \LLTC in my opinion will benefit from Networkers as Yahoo and others make new high the big progress in Internets will only come on back of CSCO's ASND's COMs and this would in turn help ALTR LSCC's and others. Like a triangular connection. I liked that SOX after testing 298 did close above 301 and I think we will see some more consolidation next week but once the earning season is over we may see with H&Q conference some real action. Iwould position myself for some positve forward looking statements.

Doing a little research/comparison of LSCC, ALTR AND XLNX and this is what I have found initially.

LSCC has the highest per share projected earnings (from WRSN) at $2.73 (FY99) and $3.26 (FY00) compared to XLNX $1.57 (FY99); $1.77 (FY00) and ALTR $1.63 (FY 99); $2.04 (FY00).

XLNX and ALTR are shown to produce a higher return on equity though at 28.4% for ALTR and 21.7% for XLNX compared to 13.5% for LSCC.

Anyone more knowledgeable care to comment?

Edit .....

Looks like XLNX and ALTR have some debt on their balance sheets which pumps the return on equity numbers compared to LSCC which has no LT debt.
