The rules of the game have changed, in case you didn't notice....all of those bad debts get written off in M&A...IMHO the little banks have incredible ability to merge, the big banks are screwed. All they can do is sell their bad-debt portfolios to somebody else for a discount and write it off that way.
The little banks service small-town America. It's a market where the big multinationals can't compete. The Internet will have---is having--- an incredible impact on small towns, people can stay and work where they like to live rather than move to the big city.
