LCE ..yes, I'm in cement now. thanks for all your feedback. I got some LCE this afternoon and I'm going to hold for quite a while. I decided it was time to cash in INTC, which I've held since September 1996. Now I've got some interesting new stocks in my long term portfolio. MSPG, LCE, SEEK, IBM,ORBI, WWW, CHKPF, CDNW, NTLI. Most of my sells long term portfolio increased 100%+ since January 1998...with ELNK increasing 300% and I thank the posters on this thread for the input on the internet stocks that had a great impact on that portfolio. Keep posting guys 'n gals.

I have been involved with LCE as a customer since 1985 and as an investor about the same amount of time as you have. I initially bought MSA via Crane when it was still a part of it.

I have annual corporate meetings with the two companies and meet with their regional staff on a more regular basis. We know that as inventory is reduced in the Prior area, that this will hit the bottom line in the third or fourth quarter. The plant was shut down for 5 weeks for repairs. The company is making so much money that it can go unnoticed by the public market. Otherwise, Wallace was the cornerstone to their turnaround. His connections and prior experience made the difference in going through bankruptcy.

These guys are able to dictate to us what they are going to do, and there will be allocations of cement to customers in many parts of the country this year again. Price increases will go through again in 99.
Look for further consolidation. It will happen for sure.

Holnam is bringing in cement from China to help itself out because of no inventory. That is about as long a haul as one can add on for freight charges. If not for the strong world consumption of cement
the market would be slightly softer here, but the borders are now protected against dumping. Cemex paid the price and the companies are aware of the heavy fines. It is extremely costly and difficult to open another plant in this country. The day will come when that occurs, but the logical movement now is to add slag to the mix designs which increases the psi, reduces the cement % by 25%, and through additional modifications of the plants, will increase current capacities.

Slag/cement mix designs will become the standard in the future because of permeability and strengths, and finishes better.
