Re -- Cisco is already aggressively pursuing other high growth (GROWTH) markets (voice/data integration, etc.)

Yeah right, while losing it in the ATM market.

Its really amazing when you look at Cisco's competition...that it is getting such a high P/E..

LU and NT 8000 lb gorilla's coming down from the carrier space..
Ascend winning in the ATM space..
Bay nipping at Cisco's heals, and making headway into Cisco's existing stronghold (the enterprise backbone)
3Com and Intel bigger than Cisco in the home/SOHO markets..

This company has its work cut out for it. And to top it all Cisco has the bloated IOS to deal with, which is slowing it down considerably.

bgg:
Stockman was not fired from Cisco. He lives at the Sunset Nursing home in San Jose. The home installed PCs about a year and a half ago. He is one of a growing number of patients who grace the threads. Some of these patients have become astute traders because they can put a lot of time into it. My hat is off to Stockman for stirring up this thread. I think he has quite a sense of humor!

Folks: Hear this.... one of the talking heads on TV talked about an IPO which was offered today.... it is named BroadComm Corp... makes chips for cable boxes that allow Internet access on TV ... offering price was $24 and it went up over 150 % ... closed at 53 5/8 today.... now, here is the good news for us..

CISCO has participated in the offering and has bought 500,000 shares at $24.... which means that by the close of business today, CISCO made 500,000 (53 5/8 - 24)= $15 million. Oh ya, CISCO is also one of the major customers of BRCM product...

CONCLUSION: Hang on to CISCO and go buy BRCM... it is going to be sizzling hot IPO.
