Soup, It will have profound implications. MSFT has often been accused of keeping secret calls and other handles in their assorted programs a secret. Then when others try to integrate their word processor it will fail to run unless they do a time consuming branch analysis to looks for all the hidden hooks and so their revision is later than it should be and the MSFT App gets there first.
there is an old saying that is supposed to be on the wall at MSFT.
"DOS is not ready until Lotus will nor run" as they make revs and updates to lotus.
Knowing Gates the way I do(from print comments) I can see this truth being the rule, and no-one gets to use the MSFT tracks, they will not even tell you where they are.

So this court ruling will affect MSFT a great deal if applied to those aspects about developer releases etc...as it should be.
