You must use Netscape 4.0 and above. IE tends to be more problematic with the iChat plugin. I use Netscape there.

Yeah, you'll find that the iChat plugin is a real resource hog so try to keep as few windows/programs open at a time. Outlook takes up at least 10 percentage points so you might not want to keep that open while you're trying to use the chat.

Good luck on slowing the train down. Obsolescence being built in to products has taken on a new meaning in the PC revolution. We used to think they stuck it to us in new cars. <g>

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip Len. Going for the 4.0 upgrade.

The other thing I learned the hard way about internet browsers is if you don't religiously clear the memory and disk cache (found under options and network preferences) regularly, then your machine gets sluggish and needs a reboot every minute. Why doesn't Netscape et al. educate users better on this? The way I discovered it was by pestering a software company - turns out they had nothing to do with it but was kind enough to tell me how to solve the problem. Shame on these browser developers. What other traps lurk? I seem to have found the formula for now, hope Netscape 4.0 doesn't have any new surprises.

BTW anyone know where to get a really good flat panel display for a desktop PC?
