steve, another 500 points off the nikki and the dow will start to tumble.... u know I like your short... I see amat at 26 again before this is all over... think inflation is out there... its in assets... and when people get scared and see how far and how fast their paper profits disappear... the effect will be severe.... there seems to be this inate confidence that pe's etc don't matter because the volume of cash comming into the market from boomers will drive asset prcices higher all over... that sounds like inflation and higher rates to me... there is only one way for the market to go... and that is (in the absence of earning momentum) down.... we may see 9600 before that happens... and amat might add the odd point here and there... but the easy money on the upsides been made... I would like to add a thought on the net stocks (I bought puts on yahoo at 125 like I said I would) ... the myth is that advertizing is going to support the medium... my guess is that it's limited... the impressions are just too weak... a buddy just finished a study for major movie dist.... found tv to be infinately better and therefore cheaper on a dollar per impression basis, and has recomended cutting out all spending on web.... (have you ever even waited for the ad to load)... also same study found that time spent online peaks after 6 months....
