Now, I have a serious question for you Brian ... If AMD shipped 1.5M K6's
in Q4'97 and then 1.5M in Q1'98, please explain how AMD is gaining market
share. BTW, the overall PC market grew during this period ... I would say that
AMD actually lost a little market share.

And you would have been wrong.

How much market share did AMD and Cyrix get in 1997?

You can add up the K5 & K6 shipments and compute the numbers.

The answer is - they probably LOST market share in 1997.

Now, as for 1998, AMD got off to a rip-roaring start with FLAT K6 sales!
