JDN and Jeff: Note that I said the profit motive(maintaining share price value and earnings) is a strong incentive for a public company to get their Y2K act together. And I'm no special friend of attorneys on this, or many other issues. Yet, when the rubber meets to road, there must be some way to distinguish between slackers and achievers. If it can be shown that a software company or a bank or whoever, made a serious effort to inform customers of their compliance status or assist them in becoming compliant, I see no reason that they should be victimized by vultures in suits.
