I do not think Apple can afford to leave any people behind in the next upgrade. The
old macs are already left behind. Every time you do that you have a huge batch jump
ship.

Horse manure! What do you think Microsoft did with Windoze 95? Sure, you could run it on a 486, but only slowly, only if you had at least 16MB of RAM, and only reasonably well on a 100Mhz unit. You really needed a Pentium to run it at a decent speed.

I contend that Apple should have left more people in the dust with their system software. I mean, for cryin' out loud, you could run still run Mac OS 7.5.5 on a Mac Plus! That machine was made in January 1986! Fact is, most users are just fine working with the OS they have. If they want all the bells and whistles of a new OS, then buy a *&$#C@&^ new Mac!

This also pushes sales of the boxes. You want the latest, greatest OS for yourself? Then you'd better get a machine that will run it! I think Apple has hamstrung itself by not offering more powerful features sooner, ones that require you upgrade your Mac.

I'm no fan of your posts on this forum either, but at least get a clue about market dynamics.
