@Jim,

I don't know Seattle, but in Austin, it is much more difficult to get funding than in the bay area. There are lots of startups in Austin and many of them get their funding from here, because theres only one local firm I believe (Austin ventures - Jimmy Treybig). The approach they take there is , people start their companies here, and then once they have some momentum, the founders move back to Austin and continue.

Austin is also a nice place, as opposed to the bay area.
Of course Im a native texan though.

wait till you see the traffic in seattle. no mass transit and everything constrained by water. major traffic jams.
