Being the least informed about many of the technical features of Sandisk's products I wanted to say that those who have contributed to this message board have been extremely helpful and insightful. I haven't looked beyond digital photography, but if MMC has a strong potential in addition, then I think the company is destined for success.

This weekend our local paper advertised two new cameras available at Best Buy and Office Max. They are the Olympus D-320L ($599.99)and the HP C20 ($699.99)which are both megapixel resolution. Kodak's DC 210 is another competitive product ($899.99) with a zoom feature. All cameras use removable storage with the HP and Kodak product adopting CompactFlash and the Olympus using SmartMedia cards. The prices are coming into an affordable range now and I think sales will start to build up steam. With a camera purchase 2MB and 4MB cards are the rule and that dictates a memory upgrade if you are going to insist on high resolution, minimally compressed images. I hope to get out and comparison shop a bit, but I am hopeful that affordable SLR models will arrive soon.

The first generation 640 x 480 resolution models are going on sale now and I saw a low-end Panasonic model (PV-DC1000) advertised at $199.99 at Computer City that features no flash card at all. When I called to see if they had any left the sales person said, "We don't carry digital cameras." After he checked through their inventory database he was really surprised. (I guess many people still believe that consumer acceptance is still a long way away?!)

Once these inventories are cleared the real fun will begin!!!

Many thanks to the loyal SNDK followers on this thread. Keep your ears to the ground and your fingers crossed!!!
