IF a share offering was only to insiders, then a low price is desirable to the purchasers, but not the company or the other shareholders, as the lower the price, the more shares there would need to be issued to raise funds (200,000 @ $5 vs. 1,000,000 at $1 to raise the same amount of money). If insiders had the resources to make this product fly, then it would be a private company, not public. I think the funds they require will have to be found on the open market, meaning that, if the insiders want to minimize the eventual dilution of shares, then a higher price is in their best interest.
